Well, we had all seen the construction, then we saw the sign go up, and I know that Derek was anxiously awaiting the grand opening date, possibly more than the rest of us. Then the grand opening date kept changing! Which brings me to last night…

Chick-Fil-A has a well known opening day promotion. The first 100 people on the first day get free food for a year in the form of 52 coupons. People started camping out yesterday morning. Wowza. We passed by last night around 9pm to see the restaurant surrounded by tents. You know, I guess if you gather your friends and have fun with it, maybe its not so bad. I just don’t think I would camp out…ever, let alone for a chicken sandwich. However, major props to the people that succeeded.

And this was the scene today, around 2:30pm as I made my way over to Chick-Fil-A. Mike had just told me that he tried to go there for lunch but the line was too long. Uhoh. I wasn’t waiting in line…but! I must have missed the lunch rush, because although the place looked crowded? As soon as I walked in, I was guided over to an open register where my order was taken, and then what felt like a minute later, I had a tray full of food. Whut! Insanely quick. I guess they call it fast food for a reason…WOWZA.

There were a few empty tables and I noticed the staff was ON IT! As soon as someone got up, the table was cleaned and ready for customers. I remember going to a Chick-Fil-A somewhere within the Inland Empire years ago. That’s pretty much all I remember about it.

Today I ordered the chicken sandwich combo meal with fries and a drink. I didn’t have time to really read through a lot of the menu, but I always hear people rave about their chicken sandwich so I figured it was the best choice.

I think people are excited about a new chain to eat at in town. After all, we are the land of chains, aren’t we? I try to stick to writing about mom and pops, but since people were excited enough to camp out, I was curious to try it for myself. I might be back from time to time, but its definitely not going in the rotation anytime soon.

[...] Chick-Fil-A now opened! Lady Ducayne stopped by to review and took some great photos of the Southern-inspired, cult-like house of chicken. And last night I even got to try it out. Chick-Fil-A goes all out with new locations, flying in a team of Grand Opening specialists to help kick things off. One of the guys was from Joplin, Missouri and was in the SCV for a week. Anyway, the food was really tasty and that lemonade- wow! LADY DUCAYNE [...]
