So, last night, against my will (my powers failed me) I went to CPK with E. We had not seen each other in a while, for obvious reasons. However, when I got a last minute phone call about dinner? I could think about a gazillion reasons to decline, but I had nothing else going on tonight…so off I went.
I had not been to a CPK in many years because I can’t say I’m a fan. Of course I saw the new one that opened up here in Valencia, and I was mildly curious, but don’t all CPK’s taste the same? Anyway, turns out my friend loves this place, so I didn’t fight it (trust me, I usually fight it)…and after a 30 minute wait, we were seated near the open kitchen. Nice.
I’m not writing out the whole name of this place, because this wont be very positive…use your imagination (or just look at the photo above).
So, after an argument (I wish I was making that up) about what appetizer to get we decided on just a pizza and then maybe dessert.
The only pizza I remotely like at CPK is the BBQ chicken, which I clearly told my dining companion. He either did not care, or did not hear me, because he ended up ordering the Thai pizza! Whut! Anyway, after what felt like an eternity of chit chat (most of which I tuned out – which I have mastered after four years), our Thai pizza arrived. I will tell you that I love Thai food and flavors, especially peanut sauce! However, on a pizza? With cheese?
DID NOT LIKE.
AT ALL.
I managed to eat one slice, but wow. That was a bad choice in pizza. It was just. Weird. He ate four slices! Wow!
And on that note, I hope YOU are not reading this and if by chance you are, then you need to realize this:
It seems like someone has made some pretty awesome decisions lately. Very proud of you! (about the friend, not the pizza)
I went to the same restaurant last weekend and had a really delicious pizza that I wasn’t even sure could be turned into a pizza cause its normally a sandwich…(Cali club)
Anyway, it was sooooo good I ate all 6 slices like a pig. Maybe your next ‘friend’ can take you there and it will be a better experience.
Also, the waiter I had was a really good looking guy. I think you got the fail waiter and I got the waiter full of epic win.
Wow bad night huh? Boy Fail, Food Fail and you shoulda stopped for McCafé for a Coffee Fail!
Yeah, but those fails were obvious, no? I mean think about it. I totally knew what I was getting myself into. So, I failed.
I’m opposed to “Thai” pizza on principle. Peanut sauce = Thai is like pineapple = Hawaiian.
I am sure that CPK in the SCV is even worse than any of the others. I really hate CPK! Sorry about the entire experience…sounds bad.
Sooo…this is like the 2nd bad review I’ve read of CPK in the past month or so–I’ll make a point not to try one!
