While at La Super Rica, we saw a Tweet from fellow blogger NomsNotBombs telling us about McConnell’s Ice Cream. I love ice cream! Turns out we were really close by, so after leaving LSR we headed straight over there.
We were surprised to see that there were only like 4 parking spaces, and ended up parking a block away in a residential area. As we were walking, I was asked if I was going to Foursquare this. Honestly? I gave up on 4sq because its pretty pointless in the SCV. I even lost mayorship of my beloved pond! However, I figured it would take 2 seconds to check in anyway…and when I did, imagine my surprise when a “tip” popped up from Abby! She mentioned that the scoops were pretty big, but you could get half scoops! Guess what? Foursquare is useful! WIN! If more people took the time to add tips to locations, that would be GREAT!
Now that we knew this, we went in with a plan. Four flavors, half scoops of each. I love cherry ice cream, so that was one of the flavors we ordered. The rest were: strawberry cheesecake, caramel pecan, and island coconut.
Turns out ice cream does not photograph well. Take my word for it though, those half scoops were still pretty huge! We sat there for a long time trying to finish the ice cream and failed. We only got halfway before giving up.
We both have our favorite ice cream shops. Mine is Fosselman’s in Alhambra…his is Bi-Rite Creamery in San Fran. However, we enjoyed our stop here! It is obvious that this place is a local favorite because it had a steady stream of customers coming in and out the whole time we were there.
