Cook’s Tortas is a place I had been hearing about for a long time, however everytime I set out to try it, I ended up at Dim Sum. I mean, its Monterey Park! When in Rome…
Before heading to the Nokia Theater at LA Live for what turned out to be one of the best concerts of my life, I finally decided to check it out. The menu board offered a nice selection of tortas to choose from. Since I planned on doing plenty of dancing at the concert, I went with a lighter selection…queso fresco por favor! Those of you that know me, are aware of my weakness for Mexican queso fresco. Love.
Soon my meal was delivered to the table! So exciting!
My torta came with a side, so I opted for ensalada de coditos. Hadn’t had that in a while. It was good.
And this was my torta. It was good. I liked it. Its just that…well…I’ve had soooo much better! I guess if I was nearby and craving a torta I would stop by, but I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way for this place. It seems to be like an artisanal torta place, so that’s definitely a nice concept…but I much prefer a cemita.
