Our Westside Romp ended at BP Oysterette for Oysters! J took charge of the ordering and we ended up sharing Oysters Rockefeller and 30 oysters (6 different varieties):

Baron Point

Hog Island

Metcalf Bay

Endless Summer

Fanny Bay

Gerrish Island

The best thing about hanging out with other food bloggers? No one is shocked at cameras on the table or waiting a minute or two to start digging in. And hearing the question of “who’s going to Twitpic this?” Instant classic. Here is J doing his thing. Fascinating to see how the magic happens. So sly.

Here is a photo of the Oysters Rockefeller.

Oysters Rockefeller are prepared with spinach and parmesan cheese. Even though I usually stay away from Spinach? This was a fantastic dish! Its funny to see how we all have different photography styles. I don’t usually focus on just one item so closely, but its nice to see how they came out.

So basically as I conclude with J’s close up shot of the oysters taken with my SLR…it was a nice mini food crawl day hanging with fellow foodies.

After leaving Hucklberry we headed over to the Santa Monica Farmers market, which I have visited before and also happens to be the place where Jason from Maru in Valencia gets his produce. The objective today was Carlsbad Aquafarm and their fresh “shucked to order” oysters.

I was so full from breakfast, I could not even consider an oyster, especially since we were going to have Oysters later.

This stand at the farmer’s market had a steady stream of customers, which quickly included the clan, with J taking the lead.

Indeed, as soon as you order, they shuck the oysters right in front of you and you can really see the freshness.

There is a table with random condiments that you can use to dress your oysters. Definitely a nice treat on a sunny Southern California afternoon.
