Our real objective was to expose our friends to the wonders of Langer’s World Famous Pastrami. Sure we could have just driven there, met up, eaten, and gone home, but when you live in SCV, you need to find ways of having mini adventures, so Mike came up with this genius Sandwich Train idea. Visit LA by rail, explore the City of Angels and just escape the SCV for the day.
We arrived and were treated like rockstars as we were led to our table! We were hungry and ready to eat but first, the drink orders of course! Scott’s daughter ordered a “chocolate egg cream” which looked really interesting and she seemed to enjoy. It is chocolate milk with seltzer. Interesting.
Aleks was weary on ordering pastrami because she wasn’t sure she liked it. Soon, she became a believer though! As did most everyone that ordered the pastrami. It is definitely a life changer!
Nate proceeded to mock me and my picture taking, all the while pulling out his little point and shoot and doing the same thing. Hello? He’ll probably blog about it too. Oh snap!
I wasn’t quick enough to get pictures of everything we ordered, but here are some to give you an idea.
The highlight of the day was meeting Norm. He is the owner of Langers and one of the kindest people ever! He really made us feel very special by coming over and saying hello.
We left Langers full and very happy! Susan and Bree are vegetarians, and they were happy with their selections. So really, there is something for everyone here. If you live in LA and have never been to Langers, the time is now!
Here is the crew as we headed back to the Metro station towards our second stop!
I love pastrami now.
